5 ways to make more money as a makeup artist
I hear you guys, you wanna know the GOODS. Well you ask, I answer - so today’s post is all about, how the heck do we earn more money? And it’s easier than you think.
1) Money is just paper.
That’s right. Money is just paper with value we have projected onto it. Worth we have put onto a piece of paper. I learnt this from the manifestation babe. The second you stop putting your worth on how much you earn and how much money you make - our entire relationship with money changes. The first way to make more money? It’s to heal your own relationship with money. Look into books, courses or Katherine Zenkina’s podcast - The Manifestation Babe and do some healing. This will majorly help you learn how to make more money and attract more of it into your life.
2) Raise those rates.
You knew it was coming. But seriously. If your work isn’t bringing in your desired amount, the first and easiest way to increase your salary is to give yourself a pay rise. We can do that, it’s an amazing luxury a lot of the “normal” jobs don’t get. Who in the world can seriously give themselves a pay rise? You can! Look at your service. Look at how you can improve that service and then increase your rates. ESPECIALLY if you haven’t done so in a few years.
3) Diversify your income.
If you are amazing at showing up online and influencing your friends to buy makeup - you might make a great influencer alongside your makeup career. If you are a natural born teacher, you might be able to offer lessons or become an educator on a space you are an expert in. Money is easier to make when you have multiple income streams, multiple products and multiple services. Look at what you can add onto your tool belt.
4) Book more clients.
Another easy one. There’s nothing in this blog post you might not know already, and of course the key to earning more money, is oftentimes booking more clients. 5) Look at your profit.
I work with a lot of makeup artists who actually, make a very good income but always say to me that they have no money. Before you want to make more money, look at where your money is already going. If 90% of your income is going back into the business or you are eating your profit with more makeup for your kit, ask yourself - is this smart spending? Budgets aren’t fun or sexy, but they are sometimes necessary. If you are spending £25k out of £30k on makeup, then you might need to cut back. Would you rather spend on your kit, or have extra income to spend on living life!
So those are my 5 quick and easy tips for earning more money. Pay close attention to that last one, that will be your biggest change.
